DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unknown assailants shot dead a senior lawyer here on Sunday.

According to the police, Malak Iqbal Khiara Advocate was going to fields on a motorcycle when unknown miscreants opened indiscriminate fire on him near Draban Khurd in the jurisdiction of university police station. As a result, he died on the spot. The accused managed to escape after the incident.

The Rescue 1122 and police personnel rushed to the spot after the incident and shifted the body to hospital. The body was later handed over to relatives after postmortem.

The university police registered case against unknown assailants on the report of Malak Ismail, brother of the deceased, and started further investigations.

The funeral prayer of the deceased was offered at Gomal University’s city campus. Later, the deceased was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard. A large number of lawyers, traders, political, social and religious figures, relatives and civil society members attended the funeral prayers.
