DI KHAN/MOHMAND: Four persons, including three siblings, were killed in bomb explosions in Dera Ismail Khan and Mohmand districts on Wednesday.

Police and locals said three siblings were killed when a toy bomb exploded in their house in Daraban Khurd area of Dera. They said the victims’ father, Safdar, had found the bomb looking like a ball during work in his fields and brought the toy home and gave it to his children to play with.

As soon as the children started playing with it, the ball exploded, killing the three siblings on the spot. They were identified as Mohammad Waheed, Mohammad Iqbal and Mohammad Shamraiz.

The police reached the area soon after the incident and launched investigations.

Meanwhile, a man was killed when an improvised explosive device went off in Shati Meena area of Ambar tehsil of Mohmand district.

According to police, the victim, Abdullah, was on way to a nearby village on a motorcycle. When he reached Shati Meena area an IED hit his motorcycle, killing him on the spot.

The police, Levies and Khasadar personnel rushed to the spot soon after the incident and started a search operation in the adjoining areas. However, no one was arrested till filing of this report on Wednesday evening.
