HYDERABAD: Syed Qalbe Hassan, an independent candidate supporting the Asma Jahangir group, won the election for the post of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Hyderabad president by securing 37 out of the total 53 votes in the ballot held here on Thursday.
His rival, Mohammad Shoaib Shaheen of the Professional group bagged 13 votes.
There were three polling booths within the single polling station set up in the library of the High Court Bar Association.
The other candidates declared elected are Khalil Ahmed Baloch (vice president Balochistan), Aurangzeb Asad Khan (vice president Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Ghulam Murtaza Choudhry (vice president Punjab) and Inayatullah Moryo (vice president Sindh).
Ahmed Shahzad Farooq Rana and Choudhry Mohammad Shoaib clinched the posts of secretary and additional secretary, respectively.
