A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court has ruled Pemra's decision to stop television channels from covering JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman's news conference as illegal and a violation of the Constitution and the Pemra Ordinance, 2002.
In a written verdict, the bench said that if a contempt of court petition could be filed if the regulatory body bars any channel from covering the JUI-F chief's press talks again and directed Pemra to ensure that opposition’s activities get as much coverage on private channels as those of the government’s.
