LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved change of nomenclature of the post of patwari into village officer. These officers would be allocated BPS-14 after their induction through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) followed by six months compulsory training. The CM also granted approval for giving laptops to village officers.

These decisions were made during a meeting at CM Office in which performance of the revenue department and the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) was also reviewed, said a handout issued on Sunday.

The meeting reviewed giving current patwaris BPS-11 and gardawar BPS-14 during their period of service. It was also decided to formulate service structure for promotion of the staff of the PLRA. The meeting decided to make one tehsil of Lahore regarding revenue as a model tehsil and the CM directed the Lahore commissioner to undertake immediate steps so as to make one model tehsil. He also directed the officials to set up 115 Arazi Centres in the far-flung areas of the province by December.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Buzdar said the PTI government was undertaking revolutionary measures in order to facilitate the people in revenue matters.

“Bank counters would be established for payment at the Land Record Centres so that the citizens may not have to visit Arazi Centres time and again,” he stated, stressing upon the officials concerned to save the citizens from facing any difficulty with regard to obtaining land documents.

“The officers and officials who grab bribes from the citizens will find their places behind the bars. I will not tolerate any complaint relating to grabbing money from the citizens,” he reiterated.

The proposal to change the designations of assistant director land record into tehsildar and land record officer into naib-tehsildar was also reviewed during the meeting.

Senior Member Board of Revenue gave a briefing to the chief minister in this regard.

Provincial minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, Malik Muhammad Anwar, the chief secretary, principal secretary to CM, secretaries of departments concerned and senior officials also participated in the meeting.
