KARACHI: The Commiss­ioner Karachi ATF U-14 Tennis Championship will be inaugurated on Nov 12 with an exhibition match at the Karachi Gymkhana, which will feature top dignitaries of the metropolis, the organisers announced on Monday.

The doubles exhibition match will be played between former PTF president and current IG Police Dr Kaleem Imam, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani, DC South Syed Salahuddin and DIG Sharjeel Kharal.

A delegation led by PTF vice president and chief organiser Khalid Jameel Shamsi met the IG Police in his office on Monday and requested him to inaugurate the championship and play the exhibition tie to which Kaleem Imam agreed and assured that Sindh Police will provide all the cooperation for the event.

The delegates included PTF’s Khalid Rehmani and Gulzar Feroze, coordinator Ghulam Mohammad, Sameer Shamsi and Adil Ibrahim.

Khalid Shamsi, who is also the head of Shamsi Tennis Academy, briefed the IG about the championship as well about the Rotary Club U-14 Super Series Tennis Championship which will also be held this month. He said leading players of the country as well as some prominent Asian tennis players will also compete in the two championships.
