KARACHI: Pakistani quartet cruised into the knockout round of the ongoing IBSF World Snooker Championships in Turkish city of Antalya on Tuesday.

According to information made available here, former world champion Mohammad Asif topped group C with an unbeaten record. His compatriot Babar Masih won three of the four matches to advance from group L.

Despite winning two of the four matches, Zulfiqar A. Qadir managed to ean a place in knockout from group A on better frame difference so does Mubashir Raza who returned victorious in two of the three games and propelled from group B on frame difference.

Mubashir suffered 1-4 loss at the hands of Finland’s Heikki Niva who too won two of the three matches.The latter won the clash 74-33, 75-27, 35-66, 95-14, 80-0 the other day.

Zulfiqar, meanwhile, also won his last battle straight against Turkish player Yildrim with the scores being 57-20, 85-3, 70-9, 71-16.

The 19-year-old Chinese Pang Junxu has been seeded on top in the re-draw for knockouts followed by Asif.

The event concludes on Saturday.

Heikki Niva (Finland) bt Mubashir Raza 4-1 (74-33, 75-27, 35-66, 95-14, 80-0). Zulfiqar A.Qadir bt Yildrim (Turkey) 4-0 (57-20, 85-3, 70-9, 71-16).
