QUETTA: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday convicted Kalat Assistant Commissioner Sultan Ahmed under the contempt of court ordinance and sentenced him to jail till the adjournment of legal proceedings.

The bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar and Justice Rozi Khan Barech, was hearing a petition regarding a raid on the house of Qazi Kalat by Kalat Assistant Commissioner Sultan Ahmed.

The division bench convicted the Kalat assistant commissioner under Article 4 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance and fined him five thousands rupees and sentenced him till the adjournment of court proceedings on violation of the judicial rules and negligence of duty.

If the assistant commissioner fails to pay the fine, he will be sentenced to 15 more days in prison.

The bench directed the administration to send a copy of the decision to the Balochistan chief secretary and send the report of implementation of the decision to the Balochistan High Court registrar within seven days.
