BAHAWALPUR: A 21-day Rohi sports festival kicked off at the hockey ground of Dring Stadium here on Saturday.
The festival organised by the divisional administration in coordination with the three district administrations and army was inaugurated by Commissioner Nayyar Iqbal who lit the flame.
An impressive march past by the players of 42 hockey teams of the government schools and colleges was presented. Around 2,000 players of 156 teams of hockey, football and cricket across the division would participate in the 21-day event for which the security would be mainly provided by the army.
According to an announcement, the winner and runner-up college team in each game will be given a cash prize of Rs1 million and Rs500,000 respectively while each of the school winner and runner-up team will be given a cash prize of Rs500,000 and Rs250,000 respectively.
The commissioner said his administration was strengthening the sports infrastructure in all parts of the three districts to provide students opportunities to show their mettle. He said new stadiums were being built and the old ones were being renovated to promote the sports in the division.
RESULT: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) on Saturday announced the result of matriculation supplementary examination for 2019.
The BISE said 6,337 candidates appeared in the examination and 3,246 were declared successful at a percentage of 51.34.
