KHAR: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday announced that the party would soon launch an anti-government movement.

Addressing a news conference here, he said ousting the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was necessary to save the country’s economy from further downturn.

He insisted that the PTI government was the worst regime in the country’s history and that its wrong policies had badly damaged the economy, leading to inflation and unemployment.

Mr Haq said Prime Minister Imran Khan had made tall claims before coming to power but failed to deliver on the promises. He said the PTI government had promised to construct five million houses and create 10 million jobs in its tenure. However, he lamented that the government could not even construct a single house and create any job.

Instead of providing jobs, the JI leader said about five million people had been rendered jobless since the government assumed power.

The JI leader declared that it was PTI’s first and last chance to rule the country as the people had been fed up with its ‘anti-people policies’.

Mr Haq slammed both the federal and provincial governments for not fulfilling promises made with the people of merged tribal districts. He said the PTI government had promised to give special attention towards tribal areas, but failed to implement even a single scheme and project in merged districts. He also flayed the provincial government for passing a bill aimed to declare minerals and mines in tribal districts as its property. He said the people of tribal districts won’t accept the law.

The JI leader said his party planned to launch a massive movement against the government soon.

To a question, Mr Haq said resignations from the parliament were the best and effective way to oust the PTI government.
