DADU, Aug 10: One hundred and fifty-three primary schools have remained closed in remote areas of the district since 1998 due to non-availability of teachers. EDO education Prof Jalil Ahmad Akhund told Dawn that 2,832 primary schools in the district were functional.
He said 13 primary schools for girls and 37 for boys were closed in the Johi taluka, 11 schools for girls and 25 for boys were closed in the Dadu taluka, 32 schools for girls and 16 for boys were closed in the Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka and 13 schools for girls and six for boys were closed in the Mehar taluka.
The district officer, education (elementary), Ghulam Asghar Leghari, said 650 posts of primary teachers and 850 posts of high school and junior school teachers were lying vacant in the district.—Correspondent
