ISLAMABAD, Aug 10: Chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto has summoned ARD Chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim and opposition leader in the Senate Mian Raza Rabbani to London to discuss the strategy for the forthcoming local government polls and the matters related to the party’s internal affairs, sources told Dawn on Wednesday.
The sources said the two PPP leaders were expected to leave for London on Friday morning after attending the all parties conference (APC) convened by the ARD in Islamabad on Thursday (today).
According to the sources, the PPP leaders had been summoned by Ms Bhutto to get an update on the current political situation in the country and on the reports of victimization of the party candidates and leaders.
The sources claimed that Ms Bhutto had also taken notice of the reports that there was serious rift in the ranks of the party, particularly in Sindh, on the issue of the award of tickets to the candidates for the LG elections. They said Ms Bhutto would also discuss the matter with the two PPP leaders, belonging to the Sindh province.
