PARACHINAR: District police officer Rahim Shah has said that SHO of Kurram police station has been suspended following the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl.

Talking to mediapersons, the DPO said that DIG Kohat division had also constituted an inquiry team for investigating the heinous crime.

The inquiry team consisted of SP Kohat and DSP Thall, he added.

He said the girl was a resident of Peewar area located near the Afghan border.

The Kurram DPO said that samples of the arrested accused had been sent to Lahore for DNA test, which would help in nabbing the real culprit.

It is for the first time that police are investigating a murder case in Kurram tribal district following the merger of former Fata into KP.

The girl, 5, was raped and killed by unknown persons, last week.

Her body was thrown into a pond just to portray that she drowned.

However, in the medical examination of her body, it was revealed that she was raped and killed.
