OKARA: There has been shortage of stamp papers of Rs50, 100 and 200 for the last four years and people have no option but to pay additional Rs100 to 200 to meet the requirements.

The district administration seems indifferent to the requirement of people who need Rs50 stamp paper to submit documents for character certificate, domicile and other documents. There are complaints that the stamp vendors disappear after three to four hours by making a fast buck.

The district accounts office claims that they had sent three reminders during the last three months to the chief controller to supply non judicial stamps of Rs50, 100 and 200 but the office has supplied just 25 to 30pc of the actual need of the district.

Sources said the office of the chief controller of stamps issued more stamp papers to Sahiwal than Okara despite the fact that the latter had more population and larger area.
