Benazir asks govt to free Narejo

ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, has expressed her shock over the kidnapping of prominent political activist and leader of the Movement for Restoration of Democracy (MRD), Hussain Bux Narejo.

According to a press release issued here by the PPP Media Cell, Mr Narejo was kidnapped alongwith three other persons late Sunday evening as they were returning to Naudero, the home constituency of Benazir Bhutto.

According to reports, armed men stopped Mr Narejo’s vehicle who was going to Naudero from Pir Bux Bhutto village. Later, the kidnappers released the driver and the cleaner of the car with a note for the police.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ms Bhutto said law and order situation in the country had deteriorated and the administration had failed to protect the life of the citizens. She called on the Musharraf regime to take measures to secure the release of Hussain Bux Narejo.
