KARACHI: The president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and spiritual leader of Hur Jamaat, Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi III, popularly known as Pir Pagaro (the eighth) — has called on former military ruler retired Gen Pervez Musharraf in Dubai to “enquire after his health and discuss current political situation of Pakistan”, party sources said on Thursday.

The meeting at Mr Musharraf’s residence was scheduled, the sources said, but did not respond when asked at whose wish it took place.

A PML-F source privy to the meeting said it was a courtesy call by Pir Sahab to enquire after the health and well-being of the former army chief.

Though social media gossip said former Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan was also present at the meeting, there was no word from both sides to confirm or deny this.

“The two [Pir Pagaro and Mr Musharraf] also discussed recent political scenario in Pakistan. General Sahab is badly ill and needs prayers. Pir Sahab only showed courtesy and respect for being (Musharraf’s) partner in the ruling coalition in the past,” said the PML-F source.
