HARIPUR: One person was killed and another injured when a speeding car collided with a truck near Jhari Kass here on Saturday.

The victim was the car driver and the injured was the truck driver.

Jhari Kass police said that a man identified as Naeem Akhtar of Kotnajibullah was on way to Haripur from Islamabad by his car. But, when he was crossing the Bab-i-Hazara point on the Hazara Road, he lost control over the steering wheel due to rash driving and the vehicle collided head-on with a truck. As a result, Naeem Akhtar died on the spot while the truck driver, Gul Khan, was injured critically.

Meanwhile, in another road accident, Mohammad Azam of Khalabat Township was injured when his motorbike fell into a roadside ditch due to over-speeding.

The rescue workers shifted the injured to Haripur Trauma Centre where he was admitted with multiple injuries, hospital sources said.
