The day was also celebrated at other rehabilitation centres of the hospital located in Badin, Lahore and Muzzaffargarh.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Abdul Bari Khan, the chief executive officer of Indus Health Network (IHN), highlighted the vision, mission and future plans of the hospital which was being expanded in Korangi.

In his address, Dr Amin Chinoy, the executive director of the physical and rehabilitation directorate, briefed about the services provided by the directorate.

“The hospital has set up its fourth physical rehabilitation centre in Badin. The purpose is to serve the underprivileged areas of Sindh,” he said.

Recalling how the hospital established its first rehab centre, he said the facility came into being with the support of International Committee of the Red Cross and Chal Foundation and provided orthotic and prosthetic limbs to patients with disability.

“Similar centres have been set up at the Bedian Road General Hospital, Lahore and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, Muzzaffargarh and District Headquarters Hospital, Badin,” he said.

Since March 2015, according to a hospital spokesperson, the centre in Karachi has registered 1,354 patients for prosthetic devices; 2,056 patients for orthotic devices; 922 for prosthetic devices and 3,110 for orthotic devices.
