SWABI: The first open kutcheri exclusively for women was held here on Thursday where they were encouraged to speak about their problems.
The open kutcheri was held at the rural health centre, Khunda, which was presided over by assistant commissioner, Chota Lahor tehsil, Tabinda Tariq. It was stated that the district administration would make all-out efforts to resolve the problems being faced by womenfolk of the area.
Women belonging to different departments and regions participated in the event and they appreciated the bold step of the AC, which had been supported by the district administration.
The women spoke about various issues faced by them and Tabinda Tariq assured them that the administration would take steps for their resolution on priority basis. They were asked to come forward and play their due role in the progress and prosperity of the society.
The AC said that contribution of womenfolk in various fields could not be ignored. She stressed education of girls so they could play their role in the country’s progress.
Sewing machines were also given away to some women to enable them earn their livelihood with dignity and honour.
STUDENT UNIONS: Peshawar region president of Insaf Students Federation (ISF) Shazada Fahad has said that they are optimistic that the government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf would restore student unions.
In a gathering here the other day, he quoted Prime Minister Imran Khan as saying that the higher education institutions groomed future leaders and the student unions were an integral part of the process. “We hope that student unions would be restored,” he said.
MEDICAL CAMP: Ummah Welfare Trust held a free medical camp at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone, Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate, here the other day.
The workers who earn their livelihood in different industrial units were checked and free medicines were given to them. The doctors and paramedical staff were present at the camp for the whole day.
