KOHAT: The model courts have decided over 530 cases in record time of five months which would have normally taken years to be decided in common courts.

This was stated by district and sessions judge Mohammad Shoaib while addressing a function to award commendation certificates to the judges of the model courts, police personnel, prosecution and the health staffers.

He said with the introduction of the model courts people were getting early and cheap justice. He praised the judges of the model courts for dispensation of early justice to people.

Judge Shoaib said the criminal model court, civil model court, and the magistrate model court solved hundreds of cases in record time. He said the Chief Justice of Pakistan had introduced the model courts with a vision to save the time of the litigants.

POLICEMEN WARNED: The newly-posted district police officer Mansoor Aman has warned the officials against committing corruption, illegal detentions and registering false FIRs.

He was speaking at a meeting held to review the law and order, and the police performance on Tuesday. SP operations Tahir Iqbal, SP investigations Abdul Haye, all circle SDPOs and SHOs were in attendance.

The meeting made important decisions regarding the implementation of the National Action Plan, countering crimes, peacekeeping, public service, increasing police capacity in administrative and investigative affairs and taking more comprehensive measures for welfare of the police personnel.

The meeting stressed the need for effectively implementing the NAP.

ACCIDENT BLOCKS ROAD: The busy Indus Highway remained blocked to traffic for two hours after a container struck a car near the Kohat Friendship Tunnel on Tuesday.

Miraculously the passengers in the car only sustained injuries and were shifted to the KDA hospital.

A crane was used to remove both the vehicles from the main artery.
