HARIPUR: Communication and works minister Akbar Ayub Khan on Thursday said the province’s first IT Park being established in Haripur district would help create 35,000 jobs.
The minister told traders in a meeting here that he had got Rs12 billion projects approved for the development of Haripur district.
He said Austria-funded project for the development of College of Applied Sciences in Mung village was near completion, so the classes would begin soon enabling the locals to have engineering degrees of international standard.
The minister said an industrial complex was being built in the Hattar Industrial Estate promising the creation of thousands of jobs and contributing billions of rupees to the exchequer.
Minister says initiative to create 35,000 jobs
He said sidewalks were being built on the roads, while commercial plazas had been designed for the beautification and economic uplift of the city.
The minister said the Safe City Project was being launched in Haripur city with the financial support of the federal government, while the government had approved a Rs3 billion project to address the shortage of drinking water.
He said water would be drawn through pipelines from the natural sources of Thanda Choha near Shah Maqsood interchange.
Meanwhile, the district administration on Thursday warned that the shopkeepers of different bazaars and link roads would be dealt with strictly if they continued subletting the space in front of their shops to pushcart owners.
Led by additional SP Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon, the officials of the police’s traffic wing, tehsil municipal administration and revenue department visited the main bazaar, Loharan Bazaar, Mochi Bazaar and Circle Road and found scores of pushcart owners standing in front of shops and thus, hampering traffic and inconveniencing pedestrians.
They warned that they would take legal action against both shopkeepers and pushcart owners.
