RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Mohammad Mehmood on Friday asked Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) to present a detailed report of illegal buildings within a week and also directed it to make coordinated efforts to end traffic hurdles in the city.

He was reviewing the development works of the civic body in his office.

The meeting was attended by Chief Municipal Officer Khawaja Imran Safdar, senior RMC and district officials.

The meeting was informed that RMC had allocated Rs500 million for development works in 70 union councils including patch work, streetlights and manholes.

Details of illegal buildings will be shared in the next meeting along with all building plans approved during the past five years, the commissioner was told.

The commissioner said traffic issue would be solved on priority basis as people faced problems in the downtown areas. He asked traffic police and RMC to end encroachments along main roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

He asked RMC officials to coordinate with public representatives to select roads for reconstruction, adding that the provincial government wants to speed up development work and ensure good quality of material is being used.
