Pasni beach litter

Published December 14, 2019

I VISITED Pasni beach with my family recently after a gap of a little more than a year. What struck me immediately was that since our last visit the level of pollution, especially of plastic waste on the beach, had grown manifold.

There used to be a large barren patch near the beach that was previously used to extract sea salt. Sadly it was now being used to dump waste of all sorts. The mound had become so large that it was giving off a fetid smell that engulfed a large part of the beach.

That is not all. Stray dogs were foraging in the waste and it did not appear safe to venture too close.

This was once a pristine beach that was a serene retreat for weary citizens. The area was also used for Eid congregation prayers. This is no longer true. Pasni district administration authorities should take measure to restore the beauty of this beach.
