HYDERABAD, Aug 15: The Independence Day was celebrated in the interior of Sindh with traditional zeal, fervour and enthusiasm. In Hyderabad, the district administration organized different educational, cultural and charitable programmes to mark the day.
The main programme of flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the district nazim secretariat where DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed hoisted the national flag. All regional and district heads of provincial and district departments and officers of autonomous bodies were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DCO said: “today is the day of pledge to work hard and to make the country prosperous”.
He said that August 14 call for a pledge to achieve real objectives of independence.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony organized by the community development department, the DCO said the district administration prepared a special package for special people under which provision of vocational training, skilled labour training, information technology and regular education had been made in addition to two per cent employment at government organizations.
Later, the DCO went to special prison for women at the central jail where he distributed 83 gift packs among the local as well as foreigner women prisoners.
CADET COLLEGE: The Cadet College Petaro held a function at Quaid Hall with chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Shehryar Khan in the chair.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehryar Khan called upon the cadets to pledge on this auspicious occasion to follow in the footsteps of the founder of the country, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah in letter and spirit.
In his welcome address, principal and commandant of the college, Commodore Mohammad Abid Saleem, recalled the services of the Bhopal State and the family of Shehryar Khan in the creation of Pakistan.
SU: The Independence Day was celebrated by the University of Sindh in a befitting manner at the Allama I.I. Kazi campus Jamshoro and Elsa Kazi campus Hyderabad.
The vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, was chief guest at the flag hoisting and national anthem ceremonies held at Hyder Bux Jatoi pavilion Jamshoro.
MUET: The Independence Day was celebrated with zeal and fervour at the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.
Prof (Dr) Abdul Qadeer Khan Rajput, vice-chancellor MUET, hoisted the national flag at the main auditorium.
Dr Rajput in his speech spoke at length on historical background of the Pakistan Movement.
CUSTOM HOUSE: Officers and employees of the collectorate of customs, sales tax and central excise and dry port celebrated the Independence Day.
NAWABSHAH: The Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour and zeal throughout the district on Sunday.
The main ceremony was held at the DCO office where DCO Abdul Razzaq Qureshi hoisted national flag and later planted saplings in the premises.
A walk was organized by the district government which started from the DCO office and ended at the press club.
The DCO distributed fruits and sweets among patients at PMC hospital.
Special prayers were offered in different mosques for prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan.
EDO (revenue) Baqaulah Unnar distributed Bara Khana among prisoners at the Nawabshah district jail and different games were organized at stadium.
KHAIRPUR: The Independence Day celebrations were held in different parts of the district on Sunday.
The main ceremony was held at the Government Naz Pilot School Khairpur which was attended by students of different schools of the city, senior citizens, teachers, representatives of NGOs and government officials.
Children presented different role plays in connection with the day and participated in speech and quiz competitions.
They presented national anthem in the ceremony.
BADIN: The Independence Day was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm, fervour and renewed pledge to work for realizing objectives of creation of Pakistan.
The celebrations started by hoisting national flag at the Government High School ground.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was performed by DCO Badin Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah.
MIRPURKHAS: The Independence Day was celebrated here on Sunday.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Gama Stadium which was performed by DCO Khursheed Naeem Malik.
Competitions of debates, national songs, and tableaux were held.
Special children demonstrated karate and gymnastics.
The DCO said the Pakistan Movement spearheaded by Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Muslims of sub-continent for creation of separate homeland for Muslims adding that Pakistan was created after great sacrifices.
He said Pakistanis should strive hard for its development and prosperity.
He said Rs10,000 for children who demonstrated gymnastics and Rs500 for those who presented national songs on behalf of district government.
SUKKUR: The Independence Day was celebrated in the district with great enthusiasm and in a befitting manner.
All government and various private buildings were decorated tastefully with buntings and illuminated at night while several rallies were taken out to mark the occasion.
Almost all big political parties took out rallies while the biggest rally was brought out by the PPP.
The central leader of the party and MNA Khursheed Ahmed Shah and former federal minister Islamuddin Shaikh led the rally.
All contesting nazims, councillors and women councillors participated in the rally.
Meanwhile, the main function of national flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Jinnah Municipal Stadium where District Coordination Officer Sukkur, Shafiq Khoso, performed the ceremony.
SHIKARPUR: The Independence Day was celebrated here like other parts of the country with national spirit on Sunday.
The district administration organized functions at educational institutions and other places to pay homage to the people who sacrificed for creation of independent Muslim state of Pakistan.
A big gathering was held at premises of district nazim secretariat.
The DCO was the chief guest on the occasion who hoisted the national flag.
The district administration distributed fruit among patients in the civil hospital and a food was served to under trial prisoners at judicial lockup.
