SUKKUR: A young labourer, Abdul Hameed Shaikh, resident of Ghouspur of Kandhkot-Kashmore district, who was kidnapped by dacoits in Tangwani two weeks ago, was mercilessly murdered on Wednesday.

The kidnappers had demanded Rs2 million ransom on phone from his relatives for his safe release and threatened to kill him in case of non-payment of ransom, sources said.

The labourer belonged to a poor family and his relatives were unable to pay the ransom money. When the kidnappers were not paid the demanded ransom money, they killed him mercilessly.

Pieces of his body were thrown into Shahi Wah (canal) located at Sindh-Balochistan border. The kidnappers informed the relatives on phone that they had killed him.

The police and relatives of the deceased reached the area identified by the kidnappers to retrieve his body parts.

The police took the body parts to the Ghouspur hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Mourning and gloom prevailed in his native town and among the relatives of the deceased.

The relatives claimed that the police did not take any action on killing of the labourer so far.
