GUJRANWALA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested on Thursday five human traffickers, including a proclaimed offender wanted by the Punjab directorate.

FIA Deputy Director Roy Nasrullah told this correspondent that a team under the supervision of an assistant director arrested proclaimed offender Abdul Haq alias Haqa Butt who was in the list of most wanted human agents. He said Haq received millions of rupees from different people for sending them to Greece, Turkey and Iran. Haq was involved in 14 cases and the FIA Punjab director gave special direction to arrest him.

The FIA teams also arrested human traffickers Shaukat, Jamshed, Rasheed and Khurram from different areas of the region.

SMUGGLED GOODS: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has formed teams to stop the sale of smuggled items in malls, departmental stores and markets.

FBR Additional Commissioner Sardar Zia told this correspondent that the board received information about the sale of smuggled food items, cigarettes, clothes and other articles in malls and teams would confiscate such stuff.

PNEUMONIA: More than 20 children suffering from pneumonia are being brought to DHQ hospital on a daily basis.

DHQ’s child specialist Dr. Furqan told Dawn that children were contracting pneumonia due to cold wave and one to two children are dying of the disease.

Dr Furqan said the main cause of pneumonia is parents carelessness in freezing weather.

The officials of health department said children were being vaccinated to save them from pneumonia.
