BAHAWALPUR: The academic council of the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) at its 48th meeting on Thursday approved new faculties, departments and programmes at its main campuses of the city and sub-campuses of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.

According to an IUB press release, the meeting approved faculties of agriculture and veterinary and animal sciences for the city campuses and PhDs programmes in commerce and medicines as well as MPhil and MSc programmes in veterinary and animal sciences and electrical engineering (communication and signal processing).

The press release added that the academic council also approved introducing BS Media Studies and IT programmes at Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar sub–campuses respectively.

Besides, the council also gave assent to the reviewed syllabus of various programmes of BS, Masters and MPhil level, the introduction of diploma courses in livestock assistant, BS animal sciences, applied microbiology, physiology, forestry and international relations in addition to the establishment of a executive training centre for the training of teachers.

COMMISSIONER: Divisional Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry says that toilets will be constructed in public parks for the convenience of the visitors. Addressing sportsmen at Dring Stadium on Thursday, the commissioner assured them to that for the promotion of hockey, Astroturf would be laid at the hockey stadium, which would also be revived as a national hockey tournaments centre.
