BAHAWALNAGAR: Eight people died and 15 others injured in two fog-related incidents on Saturday.

A bus was going from Maroot to Lahore and it overturned as a result of which six people died on the spot and 12 others were injured.

District Emergency Officer Rao Sharafat told Dawn that the driver lost control over the vehicle in thick fog and it overturned as a result of which six people including Nazia, 35, Aneela, 32, Nadeem 25, Iqra, 7, and Hashir, 6, died on the spot. He said the 12 injured were shifted to the Bahawalnagar DHQ hospital by the Rescue 1122 officials.

In another incident, an overloaded truck overturned on a pick-up van near Arifwala Road bypass due to thick fog. Three women died on the spot while three others were injured.

The deceased were identified as 45-year-old Jannat Bibi and two-year-old Dariyan Bibi and the injured Iqbal, 45, Salma, 35, and Sajid, 26.
