MULTAN: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi said that by making amendments to the accountability laws, Prime Minister Imran Khan proved that the institution was established to make politicians switch their loyalties.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Mr Hashmi said that except for retired Justice Javed Iqbal, all the previous heads of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) whether they were former generals or judges, admitted that they could not take action against anyone on their own.

“With the introduction of the recent ordinance, it is obvious that the friends of Imran Khan will be happy. Considering my experience I would say that it is a black law which has been further blackened and is being used against members of opposition parties. NAB is an aib which creates hurdles in the way of political and economic progress of the country and paves the way for dictators,” he stated.

Mr Hashmi claimed that though Imran Khan wanted to become a dictator himself, but due to his incompetence, efforts were under way to make someone else the dictator. A system of accountability was being introduced through which supporters will be saved and opponents victimised.

“Imran Khan should keep in view his fate. Such steps should be avoided through which there is an impression of discrimination, as the outcome of such steps would be fatal, not for anyone else but for Imran Khan himself. These steps will also be damaging for the country and nation,” he added.
