South Africa's du Plessis criticises cricket's 'Big Three' move

South African cricket captain Faf du Plessis believes cricket needs more, not fewer, elite nations.
Speaking after South Africa's 107-run win in the first Test against England on Sunday, Du Plessis was asked his opinion about plans for an annual 'Super Series' of one-day games, involving the so-called 'Big Three' of India, Australia and England, with one other country to be invited on a revolving basis.
"The last year or so you can see what's going on in terms of the big three countries," he said.
"There's a lot of movement going towards that, a lot more matches being played against the top three, or big three. It's probably better if you include more teams, better to grow the game as much as you can."
Du Plessis pointed out that there was inequality of fixtures, especially in Test cricket, with new Test nations such as Ireland and Afghanistan struggling to get fixtures.
"There's a lot of smaller nations not playing a lot of Test cricket, they're actually playing less," he said.

In recently concluded SL Test series , even with fanfare of Test Homecoming saw empty stands , how is PCB going to run loss making show for long
Big 3 will keep Cricket going and 1 invitee team will mostly include NZ or SA so they should not complain

Sure buddy. Think world economy without the USA, Europe or today China. Simple, zero economy.
BCCI contributes 84% of ICC revenue, even England and Australia are expensive. They can just twiddle their little finger to break any anti-BCCI formation.

The big three want to make more money and its their call. Why does PCB want to crib about it? Instead PCB can negotaite with other countries or the big three and have their own matches. Who is stopping them

@Saqib, Please suggest to PCB / ICC to hold a tournament at the same time with the remaining cricket playing nations. Let’s see if there are any takers. I doubt if the idea will gain traction mainly because it will not make any financial sense - I.e. the costs will be more than the revenue.

@Bilal, Sport is a spirit and you cannot buy it with the money. If you organize matches with equality, all nations will show support for their teams and will buy tickets to watch them playing in cricket stadiums.

Arrogant big three, little wonder NZ struggled in Aust this year, first test in 30 years at the MCG. No lead up games, I for one will not watch the three play each other every year. Boring

The solution is promote grassroots cricket, have a series among the rest such as yearly tournament - create a joint league for T20s automatically Big 3 will change their stance.
