HARIPUR: Two persons were killed and one was injured when the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a van coming from the opposite side near Paniyan on the GT Road here on Wednesday.

Police identified the victims as Zeshan Shah and his cousin, Shamas Gul and the injured, Naeem, a friend of theirs, all residents of Baso Maira village. The two succumbed to injuries in Haripur Trauma Centre.

Meanwhile, DSP Ghazi Javed Khan died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday.

According to staff, he was on duty on Wednesday morning when he complained of chest pain and collapsed.

He was shifted to the tehsil headquarter hospital, but could not survive. Doctors confirmed that the cause of death was severe heart attack.

His funeral prayers were offered in Ghazi and his body was dispatched to Mansehra for burial.

Also, a couple, who suffered severe burns during an attempt to commit suicide, succumbed to injuries in hospital, family said.
