LAKKI MARWAT: The police arrested a proclaimed offender after an exchange of fire in Wanda Arsala village here on Thursday.

The arrest of Rifatullah was made by a police contingent backed by the Elite Force commandos.

A police official said the outlaw opened fire and hurled a hand grenade as the police besieged his hideout.

He said the police returned fire and the exchange of fire lasted half an hour leading to the arrest of the wanted outlaw.

The official said the police also seized two assault rifles, a hand grenade and bullets.

He said Rifatullah was wanted for killing a police constable in Wanda Aurangzeb village in May 2018.

Also in the day, district police officer Qasim Ali Khan inaugurated the new building of DSP office in Naurang town.

The building has a conference room, a waiting room for visitors, and other facilities.

HOSTEL INAUGURATED: Commissioner of Bannu division Adil Sadiq on Thursday inaugurated the new building of a bachelor’s hostel at the District Headquarters Complex, Tajazai, here.

Mr Sadiq along with deputy commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir also planted saplings on the premises and examined the building.

The commissioner said the facility to be used by non-resident government officials had a solar power system and other essential facilities.

He said the initiative would improve the provision of services to the people.

The commissioner also visited Bachkan Ahmadzai village and inspected the site of Pakistan mobile clinic project meant to provide the latest healthcare to residents.

He also visited health and educational facilities in other areas.
