LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited Mianwali on Saturday and presided over a meeting at the Police Lines to get a briefing on law and order situation and development schemes of the district by Deputy Commissioner Umer Chatha.
The CM issued directions for timely completion of the development schemes and reiterated that he was monitoring the uplift projects of far-flung areas along with conducting field visits. No compromise would be made on the standard of development schemes, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, he expressed satisfaction over the performance of the district administration and directed that officers should work hard for the public service, adding that action should be initiated against the elements involved in artificial price hike. He further directed the administrative officers to keep a vigilant eye on the prices of essential items and take action against hoarders and illegal profiteers.
“No leniency will be tolerated in the mission of public service,” he warned the officers concerned.
Mr Buzdar said necessary steps should be taken to further improve the law and order situation and the campaign should continue against absconders while complainants be treated gently in the police stations.
The CM hoped the establishment of model police stations would prove fruitful in changing the outdated police culture in Mianwali.
MNA Amjad Ali Khan Niazi, MPAs Aminullah Khan and Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar were also present on this occasion.
Talking to the assembly members after the inauguration of a model police station, the CM said at least one model police station was being established in every district.
“This initiative is an important step towards changing routine police culture. The model police stations will improve service delivery, contact between people and police will be developed and police performance will also be improved,” he added.
The chief minister said police performance was being improved through operating procedures management and added that that monitoring and control rooms had also been set up in model police stations.
Similarly, carpeted non-smoking lock-ups had been established along with the facility of washrooms while CCTV cameras had also been installed to monitor the investigation process, he added.
Later, CM Buzdar visited various parts of the city without any protocol and inspected cleanliness arrangements. He also paid a surprise visit to Police Station Wan Bachran and inspected its various sections as well as the official record. He directed the officers to improve the cleanliness condition along with the cleanliness of washrooms of the lock-ups.
The chief minister also inspected Basic Health Unit Wan Bachran and inquired after the health of the patients. The patients expressed their satisfaction with the medical facilities being provided there. The chief minister said ambulance and other necessary medical equipments would be provided soon.
CONDOLENCES: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of renowned religious scholar Maulana Izhar Ahmed Qasmi.
In a condolence message, the CM prayed for the departed soul and paid tributes to the deceased for his services for Islam.
