MURREE: Local Rescue 1122 provided first aid to 8,453 injured persons in 7,807 accidents in Murree and adjoining Galyat areas in 2019.
This was stated by the emergency service spokesperson Arshad Bhutta while presenting annual report at a press conference.
He said 995 patients were provided medical treatment on the spot whereas 7,364 injured were shifted to hospitals after first aid, while 94 died on the spot due to severe injuries.
There were 694 traffic accidents, 57 fire accidents, 58 crime cases, five drowning cases, 5,494 cases of various medical emergencies, the report said.
In addition, Rescue 1122 transferred 1,248 people to the hospitals of Rawalpindi and Islamabad for better treatment through Murree Patient Referral Service, added the report.
According to the report community safety training programmes were run in government and non-governmental organisations, especially in educational institutions and a large number of volunteers were enrolled under “Mohafiz” programme, and they were provided training by the Rescue and Safety Officers.
During the Patriata Chairlift accident in which more than 100 commuters were stuck in the lift Rescue 1122 performed appreciable services.
Though the Rescue 1122 is a Punjab-based emergency service, in many cases it provided services in adjoining Galyat area of Khyber Paktunkhwa on humanitarian grounds, the spokesperson said.
