KARACHI: A full-term pregnant woman was found dead with head injuries near Qayyumabad on Sunday, said police and hospital officials.
Korangi Industrial Area SHO Rana Haseeb Ahmed said that the body of the woman in her early 40s was recovered from underneath the Jam Sadiq Bridge.
The officer said that there were injuries on her head apparently caused by some blunt instrument.
The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to full medico-legal formalities.
Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the hospital, said that the deceased was around seven-month pregnant.
Her identity could not be ascertained immediately.
Young woman murdered
A 30-year-old married woman was murdered in Surjani Town on Sunday, said police. They added that the throat-slit body of woman identified as Yasmin Sajid was recovered from a home in Sector-36-B.
Area police officer Haroon Rasheed said that someone had killed the woman and fled.
The officer said that at time of the recovery of her body, no other family member was present in the home. The police were trying to trace her relatives. The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old labourer was electrocuted in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Sunday evening within the remit of the Sharea Faisal police.
Nazim Qasim was working near Jauhar Mor when he suffered and electric shock and died instantly.
The body was taken to the JPMC to fulfill legal formalities.
