SWABI: An old enmity claimed life of a person in Jaganat village here on Monday, said the police.

Registering FIR in Chota Lahor city police station, Lal Zaman alleged that Khalid Khan and Wali Khan opened fire on his brothers, Noor Zaman and Nawaz Khan near Ittehad Colony, Jaganat.

As a result, Noor Zaman was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The accused, he said escaped after the incident. The cause of the incident was stated to be an old enmity between the two families and the police registered FIR and started further investigations.

HOUSE SET ON FIRE: A house was set on fire in the wee hours on Monday in Jalsai village, turning household items worth Rs10 million to ashes.

Two brothers, Naveed Khan and Obaid Khan, got registered an FIR in Chota Lahor police station, stating that their cousin, Muzhir Khan, set the house on fire.

The complainants alleged that Muzhir had already occupied their hujra forcibly and was demanding Rs1.2 million from them as he claimed to have share in the house.

“When we refused to pay the amount, he (Muzhir) set on fire their house at night,” Obaid said, adding the inmates fled the house to save their lives, leaving behind the burning house.

The complainants said the burnt down items included Rs3.6 million cash and 12 tola gold jewellery. SHO Farooq Khan said the house had been completely gutted.

DISTRICT ZAKAT CHAIRMAN: The provincial government has issued a notification appointing Iqbal Ahmad Khan of Shahmansoor as the new district Zakat chairman.
