ISLAMABAD: Promising Zubair Tahir from Punjab overcame top seed Hamza Ilyas in the quarter-final and Faheem Liaquat in the semi-final of the Jubilee Insurance U-16 National Snooker Championship here at Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday.
He will face fellow Punjab player Ahsan Ramzan in the final on Wednesday.
In the quarter-final, Zubair caused an upset victory by defeating defending champion Hamza convincingly 4-2 with the game score (77-42, 61-62, 71-23, 26-75, 68-11, 64-09).
In the semi he downed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Faheem in straight four frames 4-0 (59-30, 37-24, 73-19, 69-37) to move into the final where he will face Ahsan, who made it to final after outclassed Zain Ali 4-0- (78-1, 61-57, 69-13, 71-2).
