ISLAMABAD: Religious groups have announced holding protests and delivering special sermons on Friday (tomorrow) against the killing of top Iranian commander Gen Qassem Soleimani. The commander along with an Iraqi paramilitary figure and some other people died in a US drone strike in Baghdad a few days ago.

Speaking at a press conference at the National Press Club on Wednesday, Shia Ulema Council’s (SUC) secretary general Allama Arif Wahidi noted that condemnation of the US aggression had come from leaders of all political groups and sects.

He read out the message by SUC leader Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, saying the US action was not only open aggression against Iraq’s sovereignty, but an indirect support to the militant Islamic State group.
