QUETTA: National Party president Dr Malik Baloch has ousted Senator Dr Ashok Kumar from the party, terminating his basic party membership for supporting the Army Act Amendment Bill in the Senate against the party’s policy.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Dr Malik said that the NP had decided to cast a vote against the Army Act Amendment bill.

“Dr Ashok Kumar cast his vote in favour of the Army Act Amendment Bill in the Senate, violating party policy,” Dr Malik said, adding that Mr Kumar negated the basic political thinking and philosophy of the party.

The NP announced that it would send a reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan asking it to de-notify the election of Dr Kumar as a senator over violation of policies of the party.
