ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force, met on Thursday national junior squash team, which participated in the recently-concluded British Junior Open Squash Championship in Birmingham.
Mujahid, who is also president of the Pakistan Squash Federation, lauded their performance at the prestigious event and distributed cash prizes among the triumphant players.
Promising youngster Hamza Khan, who won the U-15 title in Birmingham, was awarded a cash prize of Rs500,000.
“The nation is proud of our young squash player Hamza Khan, who brought laurels to the country by winning the championship for Pakistan after eight years,” the PAF chief said during his interaction with the members of national junior squash team.
He appreciated the hard work put in by the coaching staff and the PSF for providing international-standard training facilities to the budding players.
Meanwhile, sources in PSF said that efforts are being made towards getting cash award for the said players, particularly Hamza, from the Pakistan Sports Board and the Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) both of which are supervising bodies of sports in the country.
