PESHAWAR/HARIPUR: A woman and a girl were killed when CNG cylinder of a car exploded at a filling station on the Charsadda Road in the provincial capital on Friday.
SP rural circle Ali Bin Tariq said a woman and a girl died in the CNG blast. He said the explosion also injured two persons, who had been taken to Lady Reading Hospital.
Meanwhile, taking notice of the CNG blast, the district administration started checking private vehicles to get fitness certificates for their vehicles’ cylinders.
The raiding teams also fined drivers for failure to produce fitness certificates, according to a statement.
The campaign was carried out on the GT Road, Warsak Road, Charsadda Road, Bara Road, Khyber Road, University Road, Ring Road and Jamrud Road.
The drivers were told to get the fitness certificates at the earliest, or strict legal action would be taken against them.
Meanwhile, two brothers were injured critically when an LPG cylinder they were decanting at their shop burst after catching fire in the urban limits of Haripur, police and witnesses said on Friday.
The injured were named Bilal Khan, 19, and his younger brother, Mohammad Usman, 16.
They were shifted to the Haripur Trauma Centre from where they were referred to Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad.
