BCB willing to play only T20s in Pakistan

DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has stuck to its earlier stance of sending team for only the three-match Twenty20 International series to Pakistan.
The BCB president Nazmul Hassan informed reporters of the decision after the board’s first meeting of the new year at the home of cricket in Dhaka on Sunday.
Bangladesh’s tour to Pakistan was top of the agendas for discussion as BCB and its Pakistan counterpart are yet to finalise the tour scheduled for later this month.
“We have got security advice. We applied for Government Order (GO). Due to the particular situation in the Middle East, we have been told to stay there for a short period of time. We will play the Test series later,” said Nazmul.
The BCB and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are yet to reach a consensus on the itinerary for the tour, as the hosts want to stage a full series consisting of two Tests and three T20s in the country that has been avoided by major cricketing nations since a terrorist attack on touring Sri Lankan team in 2009.
But Sri Lanka played in Pakistan in two phases without any hassles to safety of their players. In September/October they toured for three One-day Internationals at Karachi — the first being washed out by rain — and as many T20 games which were staged at Lahore.
The Sri Lankans then returned in December to play two Tests in Rawalpindi and Karachi, respectively.

Bangladesh has the right to choose where it wants to play where it doesn't. What is so wrong with that? If they are not comfortable then why force them? Does anyone force Pakistan to play cricket on their soil?

My suggestion to PCB would be as follows:
1. Firstly, please stop trying to get the Bangladeshis to play Tests in Pakistan - they have made it very clear that they do not want to do so, be it politically motivated or for genuine security concerns.
2. If you have a legal and binding contract with the BCB then take them to the ICC Court and cancel the whole series. If, on the other hand, it was a non-binding understanding, then play the T20's and be done with it.

PCB has no choice but to accept the BCB offer to play only three T20 games. It is not a bad outcome for Pakistan Cricket, at least international cricket is returning to Pakistan.

What has the security situation in the Middle East got to do with the security situation in Pakistan?
Hundreds of thousands of BD citizens are located in the Middle East. How come BD government is only worried about the well being of 15 members cricket team and that too in Pakistan which I believe is not a part of the Middle East?

Bizarre excuse. If a region is unsafe to travel due to tensions outside of its borders then duration of the trip doesn’t matter. You can fly from BD to PK without going through Iran, Iraq or the Gulf. I just flew over the region on Qatar Airways 3 days ago. If it is not safe then why are the airlines still operating these routes?

It seems like BCB would find any excuse possible not to play test matches in Pakistan. I've no doubt if PCB suggested UAE venues for test cricket, they'll say yes to it without any hesitation. Yet UAE is in Middle East!

@joe, It is about principles and fairness not about who has how much weight with ICC. An international organization has to be fair and seen to be fair to all its members. No justifiable reason given by BD and hence ICC would be justified in awarding the points on the basis of no show by BD.
