World Snooker in December

KARACHI, Aug 18: The International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championship which was schedule to be held from Nov 10 to 25 will now be staged in the first week of December at Arabian Sea Country Club (ASCC).

Both men and women will be featuring in 15-day competition.

The dates have ben rescheduled because of Commonwealth Golf Championship which is being conducted at ASCC from Novr 25 to 28

Being host, Pakistan will be eligible to field as many as eight cueists in this mega event.

The selection of Pakistani players will be decided as per national ranking after the Latif Masters. Saleh Muhammad and Khurram Agha represented the country in the last world event in the Netherlands. The defending country will be allowed to enter three players.

Nearly rupees one million will be required to conduct the world championship.

The organizers believe that 35 to 40 countries in the men contest while 15 to 20 countries to figure in the women event.—APP
