KOHAT: The district complaint cell established at the office of DPO Mansoor Aman is receiving about 100 applications of different nature daily most of which are winded up with provision of relief and assistance to the complainants.

Those pertaining to police are marked to the police access services and assistance lines and those related to other departments were sent to them for action.

A statement issued here said that in year 2019 the dispute resolution council (DRC) received 757 cases related to property, business, family and other disputes of which 588 were settled with mutual consent of the parties concerned. Five cases were sent to courts and the rest were under trial by the jury.

A computerised record of 3,678 houses was also compiled which had not been registered with relevant police stations. Likewise, 1,176 applications received during 2019 were settled, it added.

FLOUR DISTRIBUTION: The administrations of Kohat and Hangu have started arranging distribution of flour on controlled rate of Rs800 per 20kg bag to provide relief to the people in view of ban on flour from Punjab.

The exercise has been launched after it was noted that smuggled fine quality flour from Punjab was being sold in black for Rs1,125 per 20kg bag. The sale points had been established at the Fort Cricket Ground, Kohat, and main bazaar, Hangu, where trucks from local mills were being offloaded.

Meanwhile, the union of flour dealers in Kohat and Hangu demanded lifting of ban on transportation of fine flour from Punjab to control price hike.

The Kohat union president, Sultan Noor, said the price of wheat had gone so high that local mills could not produce and sell fine flour.

FILLING STATIONS WARNED: Taking action on public complaints, additional assistant commissioner Murad Hoti checked the rates and gauge at different petrol stations and asked the operators to charge according to the price fixed by Ogra.

He found that the filling stations had faulty gauge and were charging one rupee extra per litre after which he warned them of stern action if they did not stop the practice.
