HYDERABAD, Aug 19: The Qasimabad Dost Panel has opposed a proposal of the DCO to hand over Rani Bagh (municipal garden) to the district government. It warned that if the proposal was accepted by the government, people would resist the move and the DCO would be responsible for consequences.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club on Friday, candidates of nazim and naib nazim for UC-2, Mehboob Abro and Imam Ali Ansari, claimed that according to the revenue record, Rani Bagh was the property of Qasimabad taluka.
They said this recreational spot was only worthwhile property of the taluka valued at billions of rupees.
They said conspiracies had been afoot to transfer this property to Latifabad or Hyderabad city talukas on ethnic basis.
They said the builders’ mafia was playing a indirect role to deprive Qasimabad of this precious property.
They said it was being argued that the Qasimabad taluka administration was incapable of managing this property.
How can this property be managed without provincial and district government financial assistance, they asked.
They said the DCO had written a letter to the adviser to the Sindh chief minister for transferring Rani Bagh to the district government. They said the DCO was responsible for bifurcating Hyderabad district.
They said if the recommendation was accepted, there would be strong reaction from the people of Qasimabad. They said in the previous administration, nazims of Qasimabad had failed to carry out any development works in the taluka. They said even drinking water was not available to the people.
They appealed to the people to vote for Qasimabad Dost Panel and held out an assurance that they would leave no stone unturned in the development of Qasimabad.
APTUO: The All-Pakistan Trade Unions Organization, Hyderabad division, at a meeting of affiliated unions on Wednesday, demanded that the government should issue a notification without delay about increase in salaries of workers.
The meeting, presided over by Maula Bux Khaskheli, observed that inordinate delay in issuing of notification had created a restive atmosphere among workers.
The union leaders complained that the workers were not being registered under the EOBI scheme and even registered workers were not being provided medical facilities.
It noted that benefits provided by the Workers Welfare Board had also been delayed and neither checks for dowry fund nor of scholarship of the last year had been released till date.
The meeting brought it on record that under the education cess incomplete books were being issued to children of workers.
The meeting demanded that money earmarked for purchase of books, uniform and shoes should be given to workers so that they could purchase these items from the market before time.
