KARACHI: Ahmed Baig sinks a putt during the third round of the CAS Golf Championship on Saturday.

KARACHI: Ahmed Baig stayed atop the leaderboard at the CAS Open Golf Championship on Saturday although his advantage was cut to just a single stroke as defending champion Shabbir Iqbal vaulted himself into contention.

In Sunday’s final round, Shabbir will hope to continue his rampaging form as he fired a 70 after Ahmed couldn’t keep up the momentum he set over the first two days, only managing 75 to move to four-under 212 after 54 holes.

A shot adrift of Shabbir are Mohammad Munir (74) and Mohammad Alam (72), setting up an intriguing final round at the Airmen Golf Course.

A further two shots behind is Sajjad Khan (71).
