LAHORE: While National Bank of Pakistan retained the men’s team crown, Wapda claimed the women’s title in the 57th National Badminton Championships at the Wapda Sports Complex here on Tuesday.

NBP defeated Wapda 3-1 in the men’s final and Wapda whipped Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) 3-0 in the women’s section.

In the men’s category Wapda began on a winning note when Awais Zahid toppled Murad Ali 16-21, 21-16, 21-18. But NBP hit back swiftly to win the second singles and both the doubles leaving their opponents stunned.

Wapda, however, extracted sweet revenge in the women’s team competition by clinching both singles’ matches and the doubles against the SNGPL.

Meanwhile matches were also decided in the individual men’s and women’s categories.
