HYDERABAD: During a visit to the city on Wednesday, British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi Mike Nithavrianakis met the Hyderabad mayor, Mehran University vice chancellor and a businessman.

He went to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) where Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Aslam Uqaili met him and agreed to strengthen the existing links with UK higher education institutions by exploring new partnership opportunities.

He also visited Sindh Museum to explore rich cultural history and heritage of Sindh and Indus Valley civilisation. He said: “I am delighted to visit the diverse and historical city of Hyderabad. It is exciting to see a broad range of business sectors being represented in the city and impressive educational institutions here.”

He said that those institutions were playing a key role in the development of Pakistan. “I’m looking forward to building mutually beneficial ties with those institutions to further strengthen historic UK-Pakistan relationship.”

Goharullah, a businessman based in the city, hosted a lunch in the British diplomat’s honour. Mr Nithavrianakis met Hyderabad Mayor Syed Tayyab Hussain there as well.
