PESHAWAR: Amjad Ali Khadim, 46, became the first-ever young writer and journalist, selected for master thesis by an Afghan scholar at University of Kabul Afghanistan. An Afghan research scholar, Muhammad Jawad Taimuri a student of Prof Burhanuddin Rabbani Education University, Kabul, has completed thesis for his master degree in 2019-2020.

The author has defended his work during an extraordinary conference couple of days back.

The topic of his thesis was ‘Amjad Ali Khadim -- life and literary efforts’ 2020. Jawad Taimuri has completed the thesis under the supervision of Prof Dr Abdul Jabbar Sapand.

Taimuri pointed out, “Pakhto literary has generated famous writers, poets and journalists. They included Amjad Ali Khadim who is considering promotion of Pashto literature his prime responsibility. He had witnessed multiple socio-economic hardships but he never made compromise on his love and faith in Pashto literature, poetry and journalism.

“He started his struggle in his very early age and remains in the company of leading poets, writers and intellectuals.”

Amjad Ali Khadim hailing from Rajjar village in district Charsadda, has done masters in Pashto from University of Peshawar. He joined Pashto daily ‘Khabroona’, in 2003 and switched over to daily Wahdat in 2005. During this period, he briefly served as editor of another Pashto daily ‘Jirga’ but rejoined daily ‘Wahdat’.

Mr Khadim developed love for Pashto literature and he was a student of 8th grade when he started composing poetry and became member of ‘Ali Khan Pakhto Adabi Board Hashtnagri’ and also served as secretary of Hashtnagri Pakhto Adabi Tolana for around 20 years.

The poet then joined Progressive Writers Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PWKP) and also has been serving its district joint secretary since 1997. So far Khadim has authored five books including four of Pashto poetry collections and one being in prose comprised of his Columns.
