Larkana garbage

Published February 4, 2020

MOUNDS of garbage along the Larkana to Mohanjo-Daro road pose a serious health threat to visitors and the residents of Larkana.

Most gutters are open, and the drainage system is overflowing. There is no cleanliness in the city and dust in the atmosphere is spreading contagious diseases like allergy, asthma and skin diseases.

The municipal authorities’ performance is pathetic despite a large number of staff and availability of funds.

Larkana is the fourth largest city of the province. Tonnes of waste are ending up in open spaces daily and remain unattended owing to improper waste management.

Furthermore, there is no proper waste management system to dump garbage outside residential areas.

Sindh government should look into the matter, and take to task those who are responsible.
